Seasons of change

Good evening to all my fellow writers out there.  It’s been awhile since my last post.  Between work, coffee dates with friends, volunteer stuff at my kids school, and of course Thanksgiving weekend, my blog was put on the back burner.  But thankfully, I’m back and ready to run forward. There’s been so many changes in my life lately.  Some good, some not so good, and some to be determined at a later date.  I don’t know about some of you out there, but I don’t handle change well.  I like when I know what’s going on, when something’s going to take place,  how it’s going to happen.  Well…you get the idea.  This year of 2017 has been interesting to say the least.  I’m facing the fact that my boys are getting older, hanging out with friends more, and are now in 8th and 5th grade.  How did the time fly so fast?  One day I’m holding their tiny bodies in my arms, next..they’re spending more time on their phones talking to friends, and talking about the next phase of their lives.  Middle school and high school.  Good grief.  I can’t even.  While they’re busy growing and thriving…I’ve been dealing with the sadness of my grandfather’s passing.  I miss our chats together.  This thanksgiving was difficult to not be able to call him and share how each other’s holiday went and what the next plans were. In more cheery news…my boys and I participated in our first 5k race together.  I’m not a lover of running, but I must say my youngest child most certainly is.  It’s been wonderful to see him push himself in his cross country Gate City Striders team. He’s learned how to pace himself, which has been exciting to see in him. My oldest son and I fast paced walked most of it.  Of course I had to stop to snap a picture of the beautiful waters we passed by.  My oldest has gotten involved in his school more with after school activities and Club Phenomenon this year.  I’ve watched my teenager change from a once very introverted child into a smart, funny, and social kid. In other new..I’ve been very excited to have been chosen to write a guest post for an online magazine for their December issue.  So definitely keep your eyes out for this one.  They will be putting it on December 14th.  I’m excited to get my name out there.  As we move from the fall season into winter, I look forward to delicious hot cocoa, warm crock pot meals, and other treasures that lie ahead.  I will close with this.  Don’t give up on your dreams, be thankful in all things, and be your best self everyday.

Until next time…

Beautiful view for the 5k race. Great morning on Thanksgiving Day.:)
